活动介绍——“坐具_TOOLS FOR SITTING”
现代人几乎所有时间都是在“坐着”。因此“坐”对于现代人来说是具有最重要意义的一个“姿势”。比如看书的时候，从事手工工作的时候，用餐的时候，敲打电脑的时候，乘地铁，或是骑自行车的时候，人们大多都在坐着。
自古“坐”就有特殊的意义。比如坐禅时，冥想的僧侣就是坐着。无论是累了的时候，还是进行思索的时候，或是彼此进行沟通交流的时候，还是工作的时候，人们基本都是坐着的。
希望参赛者在深入思考“坐”深意的同时设计“坐具_TOOL OF SITTING”。尽管盘腿也是“坐”的一种形式，但是现代社会还是把椅子视为坐具的普遍存在形式。因此此次也可视为“椅子的设计”。另外还可以进一步拓展思路，联想到更加多样的“坐”的方式。
今年（2018年）天津设计周主题是“东西方文化的对立融合_EAST×WEST”。让两种对立文化在对立的同时共存，这就是这个主题的意义所在。为此，也希望参与此次大赛的朋友们能够深切留意“EAST×WEST”这个题目。

注：在2018年5月11-16日天津国际设计周设计竞赛展览期间，在展出作品 中根据为期6天的现场投票，选出最受群众喜爱的作品，组委会将会赠送由国际设计大师黑川雅之先生设计的椅子作为奖励。

大赛日程
（1）、征集要求的公布与宣传／2018年1月1日～2018年4月15日
通过各种媒体发布大赛征集的通知。
（2）、申请时间／2018年1月15日～2018年4月15日
请于上述期限内注册登记。
（3）、作品的提交时间／1月15日～4月15日
请于上述期限内将参赛作品提交至大赛组委会。
组委会将选出入围作品。
（4）、评审期间／初期评审 4月16～17日／最终评审 4月25日。
在上述期限内评审委员会将对参赛作品进行评价
并将评审结果告知获奖作者。
（5）、作品展示筹备期／4月26 日～5月7日
在上述期限内获奖者将为天津设计周开幕式和设计大赛获奖典礼以及出席入围作品展做准备。（在此期间，入围者需要修改设计图或3D图，制作模型，或思考现实作品等。）
（6）、开幕式／5月11日
（7）、展览时间／12～16日
获奖者将参加2018天津国际设计周开幕式及设计大赛颁奖典礼

A . 要求参赛者规定时间内登陆天津国际设计周官方网站或官方微信设计竞赛报名专区内下载或填写报名表并按照规定格式要求报送作品，发送至大赛组委会邮箱。

B . 报送同时请确认由竞赛组委会发送来的具有报名序号的确认函（电子邮件）”。邮件主题以“报名编号+作品名称+作者名”的格式命名，没有收到确认函的请与竞赛组委会联系。
备注：参赛者报送作品时，需提供本人身份证复印件以及在校大学生的学生证以便后期进行申请知识产权。
提交条件
（1）、备注请写明：“作品名称以及设计作品想要强调的地方或特点”
说明文字的官方用语指定为中英文。
英文要求：400单词左右，中文要求200汉字上下。
（2）、主要是三维图像2件500×500像素的图像
（RGB模式，JPEG格式/100kb以内）
（3）、三面图1张请写明详细尺寸和希望使用的材料名称。

【注意事项】

权利与义务
1 本大赛不收取任何费用。
2 应征作品的宣传、展览、转载、出版等版权均属于大赛组委会。组委会在使用参赛作品时署参赛作者的名字。
3 所有应征者不得向组委会要求返还提交的应征资料。同时不得向主办方，协办方以及组委会要求任何赔偿。
4 应征作品必须是原创作品，不可以是类同或近似作品。不可侵害第三者的著作权或其他知识产权以及专有权利。如果发现不符合参赛条件的作品，无论大赛进展到哪个阶段，组委会都有权取消其参赛资格，并取消其奖项，由此给主办方造成的损失由参赛者承担。
5 另外，如果针对参赛作品发生了涉及知识产权的纠纷，均由应征者处理，并承担所有法律责任。

TIANJIN INTERNATIONAL
DESIGN COMPETITION 2018
1. The theme: ‘tools for sitting’
Nowadays, people spend in a sitting position most of the time they are awake. Hence, sitting is among the basic actions in modern life. Whether we’re reading, working, eating, facing our computers, riding a subway train, or cycling, we’re always sitting.
The Chinese character 坐 (zuò, “to seat”) has a lot of special meanings, for example, when monks practice meditation, they “坐禅” (zuò chán, “to sit in meditation”). Whenever you’re tired, whenever you need concentration in order to think, it’s very probable that you will find yourself sitting.
Participants in the Design Competition are required to think about the meaning of ‘zuò’ and design a tool for sitting. Although people can simply cross their legs in order to sit, it’s more common in modern society to use chairs, which can be considered as the “form” of sitting. The competition theme can, therefore, be understood as chair design, but it also allows more creative ways to think about different forms of sitting.
The theme of TDW’s 2018 edition is ‘EAST×WEST –cultural crossings between East and West’, exploring the way two different cultures blend and co-exist. With regard to this, participants are welcome to pay attention to the general theme EAST×WEST.
2. The Jury
Four international jury members will select the submitted works in four different fields (Architecture, Industry, Graphic and Interior Design).

3. The awards:

12 Honorable Mentions (3 winners for each field)
The four winners from the Best Design Award will be rewarded with one round-trip ticket and one-night accommodation on the day of the opening ceremony of TDW 2018, while winners from the Honorable Mention will be rewarded with one-night accommodation on the day of the opening ceremony of TDW 2018.
* If the winner is a team, a ticket will be provided for the team representative.
During the exhibition of TDW 2018 (May 11 to 16), there will be a popular contest to select ‘people's favorite work'. The winner will be awarded a chair designed by Masayuki Kurokawa.
4. Publication:
A selection of works will be published on the internet.
5. Timeline:
The schedule is listed below in detail:
1 PROMOTION.
From January 1st, 2018 to April 15, 2018.
Promulgating and promoting the competition through various media, releasing the requirements to participate in the TDW’s Design Award competition.
2 APPLICATION.
From January 1st, 2018 to April 15, 2018.
Only applications submitted before the deadline will be considered.
3 WORKS SUBMISSION.
From January 1st, 2018 to April 15, 2018
Applicants must submit their works to the Committee. Works will be selected by the Organizing Committee.
4 SELECTION.
First selection April 16 /17 2018, final selection April 25, 2018.
Jury members will examine the works, the finalists will be notified.
5 PREPARATION FOR THE EXHIBITION.
From April 26, 2018 to May 7, 2018
Selected works will take part in the exhibition (Tianjin, May 11-16). During this period, all winners shall provide us with the design draft, 3D pictures etc., make models and think about the realization of the work to display, etc.
6 CEREMONY.
May 11, 2018.
7 EXHIBITION.
From May 12 to 16
Winners will take part in the Tianjin Design Week 2018 opening ceremony and the Design Competition Award ceremony.
6. Application requirements:
Applicants must be below the age of 40. Any nationality is accepted. It is possible to participate as individuals or as teams (all team members must be under 40. A team representative shall be indicated).
7. Official language
English and Simplified Chinese are the ONLY languages admitted in the competition.
8. Modalities of participation
1 Participants will log in the Tianjin International Design Week website
(http://www.tianjindesignweek.com) and fill in the application form before the deadline. Please pay attention to the filling requirements while applying.
2 Applicants will receive a confirmation email with a registration number. The subject of the email is in the form of registration number + name of work + author’s name. People who don’t receive any confirmation are welcome to contact with the TDW Committee.
* When submitting the works, participants are required to provide a copy of their ID (and/or a student’s card from a college) to apply intellectual property rights.
9. Work requirements
1. Please write the name of your work and provide us with a brief introduction to describe its design features. The introduction must be in English, and a Chinese translation would be strongly appreciated. About 400 English words and 200 Chinese characters are required for the introduction.
2. Two 3D pictures

* Pictures can’t include the participants’ names. Pictures can be in any form, such as models, hand drawings, 3D renderings, etc..
* ONLY WORKS THAT HAVEN’T BEEN PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ARE ADMITTED.
10. Rights and obligations
1. Participation in the competition is completely FREE.
2. The copyright for the transmission, exhibition, and publication of the work belong to the Tianjin International Design Week Committee. Every time the Committee uses the works, the authors’ name will be given.
3. Information submitted by the participants CANNOT be returned back and participants CANNOT ask for any kind of reimbursement from the TDW (committee, organizers, or sponsors).
4. The works that take part in the competition should be creative works and therefore shall not be copied from other works and shall not infringe the copyright of any third party or any other intellectual property rights. In case it happens, the Committee has the right to cancel the candidate's qualification at any stage of the contest and has the right to withdraw the awarded prize and certification. Besides, participants are required to pay for expenses or reimbursements if their behavior causes any loss or damage.
5. If there is any dispute about intellectual property rights of the works submitted, the participants shall deal with it themselves, taking all legal responsibility;
6. The organizing Committee is available for any further explanation of these rules.
